Affinity Groups

Mission Statement: Alianza is UNC Greensboro’s faculty and staff organization for Latinx and Hispanic issues. Since 2013, UNC Greensboro’s Alianza has been a gathering point for university employees who are interested in collaborating around issues that impact Hispanic/Latino staff, initiatives that enhance activity on campus related to the Hispanic/Latino cultures and communities – and they also serve as a network to support prospect and enrolled students.

Mission Statement: APIC is dedicated to fostering a peaceful and equal society, free from racism, stereotypes, and intolerance. In response to the escalating violence, racism, and hate crimes targeting the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community both nationally and in North Carolina, faculty and staff across the UNC System have united to establish APIC. Our mission centers on raising awareness of the API community’s challenges through factual data and personal narratives, educating on API history and culture to dispel biases and misunderstandings, advocating for fair treatment, and combating violence and xenophobia. We are committed to supporting each other, sharing experiences, and cultivating a learning community focused on API issues.

Mission Statement: The chief mission of the Black Faculty and Staff Association at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a voluntary organization of Black university employees, is to promote the interests and concerns of the Black campus community. This mission is grounded in, and derives its essential vitality from our history and legacy as Americans of African descents.

Mission Statement: IFSN provides a supportive and nurturing network space for international faculty and staff as they transition to UNCG. IFSN welcomes and promotes diverse cultural, linguistic, and social practices that contribute to a thriving and vibrant intellectual community.

Mission Statement: The Queer Caucus is a collective of LGBTQ+-identifying UNCG faculty and staff who gather to address and promote interests and concerns affecting the broader LGBTQ+ community at UNCG. The Queer Caucus is part of LEARN (LGBTQ+ Education and Research Network), a larger umbrella collective which also houses and supports the University’s Gender Diversity Working Group.

Mission Statement: The ACE Women’s Network facilitates the networking of women interested in pursuing leadership opportunities in higher education. A four-part structure—Network Executive Council, independent, state-based networks with state chairs, presidential sponsors, and institutional representatives—facilitates these connections, allows for sharing of best practices, particularly at the State Chairs Annual Conference, and enables local leadership training by the state networks.
