Can you imagine a day when charging your cell phone is a simple as buying a solar panel at Walmart, pulling the sticker off of it, and putting it on your window?
Dr. Hemali Rathnayake, Associate Professor of Nanoscience at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, is working to make this idea a reality. She has received $1.5 million in grant support from NASA, the National Science Foundation, and other funders to develop smaller, more energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly, and inexpensive solar panels.
Learn more about Dr. Rathnayake’s research in the spring 2017 issue of UNCG Research Magazine.
