Message from the Provost

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is a diverse, student-centered university in which people of any racial or ethnic identity, age, or background can achieve an informed appreciation of their own and different cultures. Classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research University with High Research Activity, we are committed to teaching based in scholarship and advancing knowledge through research. The College of Arts and Sciences and six professional schools – the Bryan School of Business and Economics, School of Education, School of Human Environmental Sciences, School of Health and Human Performance, School of Music, and School of Nursing – offer challenging undergraduate and graduate programs in which students are mentored by outstanding teachers, including nationally and internationally recognized researchers and artists. Among our signature undergraduate programs are Communication Across the Curriculum (speaking and writing), the Lloyd International Honors College, an undergraduate research assistantship program, several learning communities, and extensive service learning and study abroad programs. For graduate students, UNCG offers doctoral degrees in 23 areas of study, master's degrees in a wide variety of concentrations including four Master of Fine Arts degrees, and a number of Post-Baccalaureate and Post-Master's Certificates. Interdisciplinary programs at the undergraduate level include African American Studies and Environmental Sciences, and at the graduate level Conflict Resolution, Genetic Counseling, Gerontology, and Women and Gender Studies. I invite you to explore the many ways UNCG is the right fit to inspire you in your educational adventure. Bring us your passions and let our challenging programs and exciting opportunities fuel your academic journey. I hope you will take advantage of a rich, life-changing university experience by joining the UNCG family.
