The Office of Academic Information and Technology is a support-oriented office reporting to the Vice Provost. The office's primary role is to provide analyst/programmer services in the development of Web based applications used by office staff and university wide staff, such as the Web based EPA Personnel Action Form - PD7; provide support to Academic Affairs in the implementation of enterprise systems such as Banner Human Resources, including interfaces to other systems; coordinate and provide leadership in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive web-based infrastructure; operation of the Provost's intranet and Internet Web sites; provide information technology services in direct support to Academic Affairs including assisting with business intelligence retrieval and analysis; and serve as liaison to the Division of Information Technology Services.
The Director also serves on special project teams and committees that may be university-wide in scope including the Web3 technical sub-committee to the Web Oversight Committee, the University Web Developers Group, the Academic Technology Coordinating Committee, the Administrative Systems Technology Group, the Data Standards Committee and the Academic IT Staff Committee.
Additional responsibilities and services provided include but are not limited to:
- Determines administrative computing priorities within Academic Affairs, and provides guidance to Information Technology Services in its institutional technology support role.
- Leads development of the campus' wireless technology infrastructure, and coordinates Academic Affairs' activities related to the Laptop Computing Project.
- Provides oversight for the Academic Technology Coordination Committee (ATCC), which includes representatives from each of the academic units.
- Coordinates and provides leadership in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive web-based infrastructure.
- Provides information technology services in support of Academic Affairs.
- Develops annual and periodic statistical reports related to Academic Affairs.
- Serves as Webmaster for the Provost’s web site.
