Welcome to the Division of Academic Affairs and the Office of Academic Administration. Below is a list of the primary responsibilities maintained by this office, along with brief explanations of the services provided within each area of responsibility.   1. Academic Resources
    • Creates budget plans and allocates resources.
    • Conducts financial analyses of appropriations, trust funds, investment income, fees, receipts, gifts, and indirect cost recovery funds.
    • Provides ongoing budget administration.
    • Develops fiscal policy.
    • Administers EPA salaries and salary policies.
    • Evaluates new and existing positions for formal EPA designation.
    • Provides consultation to faculty and to academic administrators regarding financial matters and business operations.
  2. Personnel: EPA Staff and Faculty
    • Manages the appointment process for all EPA employees.
    • Manages the annual promotions and tenure process for faculty.
    • Administers personnel policies (e.g., External Professional Activities for Pay, Political Activities, Exception Pay, Phased Retirement Program, Nepotism, Affirmative Action, etc.).
    • Produces personnel reports for the Boards of Trustees and the Board of Governors.
    • Maintains EPA Job Vacancy Listing.
    • Maintains all official EPA personnel files.
    • Provides consultation and workshops for division, unit, and departments on personnel procedures and policies.
  3. Immigration Services for EPA Personnel
    • Serves as a liaison between The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and such government agencies as the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service, Department of State, and Department of Labor on employment-based immigration matters.
    • Advises departments and international faculty/EPA staff on aspects of non-immigrant and immigrant status relevant to their employment at UNCG.
    • Prepares immigration documents, such as petitions and applications to obtain, extend, or change non-immigrant status of faculty and EPA staff.
    • Prepares applications and petitions related to obtaining permanent resident (green card) status for faculty.
  4. Policy Development, Maintenance, Support, and Interpretation
    • Drafts academic policy statements for approval by the Provost, Chancellor, Faculty Senate, and/or Boards of Trustees/Governors, as appropriate.
    • Maintains all academic personnel policies, as well as the Handbook for Faculty and maintains the Policies and Publications web site.
    • Provides academic personnel policy interpretation and seeks clarification of such policies from University Counsel or UNC General Administration.
  5. Information Technology and Data Support
    • Determines administrative computing priorities within Academic Affairs, and provides guidance to Information Technology Services in its institutional technology support role.
    • Leads development of the campus' wireless technology infrastructure, and coordinates Academic Affairs' activities related to the Laptop Computing Project.
    • Provides oversight for the Academic Technology Coordination Committee (ATCC), which includes representatives from each of the academic units.
    • Coordinates and provides leadership in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive web-based infrastructure.
    • Provides information technology services in support of Academic Affairs.
    • Develops annual and periodic statistical reports related to Academic Affairs.
    • Serves as Webmaster for the Provost’s web site.
  6. Student Residence Classification for Tuition Purposes
    • Reviews and renders decisions on all student residence classification petitions in accordance with N.C.G.S. 116-143.1.
    • Presents annual report of in-state/out-of-state residence appeal statistics.
    • Serves as liaison to State and Campus Residence Appeals Committees.
    • Serves as a resource for faculty, staff, students and parents on laws and policy related to residency for tuition purposes.
    • Maintains residency information on the Provost's Office web site.
  7. Space Management, Planning, and Analysis
    • In support of the educational mission of UNCG, manages the utilization and allocation of space in a manner to assure equity, adequacy and productivity for the campus as a whole.
    • Ensures accountability for use of space in the Division of Academic Affairs and campus-wide.
    • Allocates space on the basis of institutional priorities, analysis and evaluation, and a wide range of data (including the guidelines suggested for UNC campuses by the Eva Klein & Associates).
    • Provides leadership for the Facilities Planning Core Group, interacting with relevant faculty, staff, and external contractors to ensure that all bond projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
    • Maintains building inventory, ownership, financial value, and conditions data and submits reports on these subjects to the Office of the President and the State of North Carolina.
  8. Institutional Research and Planning
    • Collects, analyzes, and disseminates information in support of enrollment planning, revenue forecasting, policy formulation, and decision making on a wide range of issue
    • Administers and analyzes numerous surveys, both routine (eg., Senior and Sophomore Surveys) and ad hoc (eg., Faculty Senate Budget Committee Survey, online personnel evaluations).
    • Prepares and presents the annual UNCG Fact Book and Common Data Set, and submits the Personnel Data File to the Office of the President.
    • Annually, provides Instructional Analysis Reports for the academic deans and develops data for UNCG's participation in the Delaware Study of Instructional Costs and Productivity.
