The University Libraries at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro seek a people-oriented individual to provide dynamic and innovative leadership in the areas of personnel and human resources management. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Administrative Services, this tenure track librarian position will have broad responsibility for administering all aspects of faculty, staff and student personnel functions.

Responsibilities:

Plan, develop and deliver responsive and innovative strategic personnel programs and services, including long-term workforce plans and organizational development.

Prepare personnel related budget requests and reports.

Oversee the procedural aspects of performance management and evaluation of staff.

Facilitate the promotion and tenure process through close collaboration with the Promotion & Tenure Committee and Dean of University Libraries.

With the Assistant Dean of Administrative Services, lead the Libraries mentor/mentee program in creative programming and support.

Working with search committees, recruit and hire all library faculty, technical, and support staff.

Plan and administer programs that meet staff development, strategic training and learning needs, and including assessment of those programs.

Actively contributes to diversity initiatives and serves on several library committees.

Manage orientation and exit activities/programs including the evaluation of staff development and retention.

Work with employees and supervisors to resolve employee relations issues and concerns and ensure policy and regulation compliance.

Maintain the Libraries’ personnel policies and documentation, including management of the human resources web pages and staff information portal.

The University Libraries support the learning and research missions of the University through its print and electronic resources, reference and instructional services, and other outreach programs. With a budget of $9 million, the collections include 1.2 million book volumes, more than 47,000 electronic and print journal subscriptions, over 500 electronic databases, and 640,000 federal government documents.

Founded in 1891, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) is a public, coeducational, doctoral-granting, residential university and is one of sixteen institutions in The University of North Carolina System. UNCG's picturesque campus includes 30 academic buildings and 24 residence halls on 210 acres. Current enrollment totals approximately 17,500 students including 3,700 graduate students.

Qualifications:
ALA-accredited MLS.

Personnel management experience in an academic library or related setting.

Ability to work effectively and objectively with library faculty, staff, colleagues and students in a collegial environment.

Demonstrated understanding of the human resource issues confronting academic libraries.

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrated professional achievement, service and scholarly/creative activity for reappointment and tenure.
