Responsibilities: Assistant Director of Athletics for Public Affairs The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a member of the Southern Conference, seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Public Affairs. Position is a full-time, non-teaching, 12 month appointment. The candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, solicitation and stewardship of corporate sponsorships of $5000.00 or greater for UNCG Athletics, the sports, games or matches, venue signage and electronic and new media inventory. This position will relate to and provide stewardship of the client as business advisor, advertising counselor and marketing/merchandising coordinator. The candidate will serve as primary solicitor of outside income for the department and direct solicitations by the Director of Athletics and the Associate Director of Athletics for Public Affairs. Additional responsibilities include leadership/oversight and management of all aspects of UNCGSpartans.com website. This position will facilitate fan promotions to generate site traffic, merchandise sales, auctions and subscriptions. The Assistant Director will oversee the All-ACCESS video on demand functions and will seek to increase the subscription base and improvement of website special features and the online services with the Ticket Office and Spartan Club. The candidate will serve as IPA’s game day event management and operations coordinator. This position will have general account management oversight duties including but not limited to in-game promotions; event marketing, commercial radio broadcast fulfillment, real-time video-audio streaming and editing for commercial usage. Qualifications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability in sales required. This position requires an individual with initiative and an energy level that will allow for working “long hours” inside and outside of the University to meet expected results. The position requires evening and weekend assignments. Requires a high energy individual that will motivate staff toward common goals and objectives. Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of five years of experience in collegiate administration or at least 10 years of related service in the public affairs industry. At least two years of experience in professional or collegiate sports marketing is desirable. Deadline: The deadline for applications is July 31, 2009 or until position filled.
