Department Chair and Professor with tenure
The Department of Nutrition in the School of Health and Human Sciences at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is searching for the position of Chairperson at the rank of full Professor. This is a ten month tenured position, beginning August 1, 2012. The Department offers excellent educational and research programs at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels, as well as a didactic program in dietetics and a post-baccalaureate dietetic internship program, both accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education. The Departmentís ten full-time tenured and tenure track faculty and three academic professional track faculty have achieved national and international success in research, and regularly receive national awards and federal and state funding.
We seek a progressive academic leader and administrator with vision and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and scholarship. The Chair must be a skilled manager of both human and financial resources, and someone who can communicate across multiple organizations and structures and with students, faculty and administrators. Ina addition, the Chair must be a scholar who can nurture collaboration and success for our students, faculty and staff.

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, one of 17 campuses in the UNC system, is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a "research university with high research activity." Current enrollment is approximately 18,500 students, including more than 3,500 graduate students. Greensboro is a city of 260,000 residents in the Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina which has a total population of more than 1.5 million and includes four major medical centers and ten colleges and universities.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in nutrition or a related field, successful teaching experience at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels; excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; and a record of scholarship and external funding appropriate for appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record in securing funding, previous academic leadership experience, and an understanding of accredited dietetic programs.
