A dynamic, established Art Education Program within a studio-oriented department is seeking an exceptional art educator with research and studio experience to contribute to the B.F.A. in Art Education program. Desirable candidates will show; Expertise in historical/philosophical and contemporary theories and practices, as well as critical issues in Art Education. Knowledge and/or experience in curriculum, program development, and program assessment. Interest and ability in obtaining external funding, as well as active participation in research, creative activities, and Art Education professional organizations. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning
August 1, 2013.

The position duties include: Teaching in all aspects of the Art Education Program (major and non-majors), supervising student teaching, assisting in the Administration of the Art Education Program (including assessment, reporting, grant writing, and program development), advising and other committee service (Departmental, College, and University levels)and collaborating in Outreach Programs.

The Department of Art, part of the College of Arts and Sciences, offers B.A. in Art History, and a B.F.A. in Studio Art and Art Education, and M.F.A. degrees, all with strong Studio, Art History and Liberal Arts components. The B.F.A. in Art Education leads to recommendation for the NC K-12 Teacher Licensure in Art. The Department of Art is housed in a brand new building with state-of-the-art facilities (http://www.uncg.edu/art).

Qualifications:
Earned or anticipated by August 1, 2013, a PhD degree in Art Education or an equivalent degree, K-12 school experience required, qualification for North Carolina teaching license in Art Education, higher education teaching experience preferred, and scholarly research record with evidence of potential for national reputation.
